What is Zoom?
Zoom is a web-based video conferencing application which allows you to connect and collaborate from anywhere, anytime, with anyone.
Do I need a Zoom account to join?
No, you don’t need a Zoom account to join the workshops but you can sign up for a free Zoom account at zoom.us/signup if you wish.
How do I join a workshop?
Once you have been accepted to a workshop, you will receive an email from TCDT with a calendar invite that will include all of the details about when to join your workshop. The invitation will also include a unique 9, 10, or 11-digit number, called a Meeting ID, and a meeting password if required.
There are many ways that you can join the workshops – as long as you have an internet connection, you’ll be able to access Zoom using a laptop or mobile device.
From the Email Invite
Your email invite will include a Join Zoom Meeting link; click on the link and you’ll be prompted to either download or launch Zoom.
Zoom Desktop App
If you already have Zoom installed on your laptop, you can also join the meeting from within the app using the Meeting ID from your invitation.
To join the meeting, open Zoom and click on Join from within the application:
Enter the Meeting ID from your email invite, add your name and select Join.
If you don’t want to share your video in the meeting, make sure to check the Turn off my video box.
Phone or Tablet
If you would like to use your phone or a tablet to join the workshop, you can download the Zoom app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Open the Zoom app. If you have a Zoom account already, you can sign in at this stage. If not, carry on to the next step.
Click on the Join a Meeting button and enter the meeting ID from your email invite and your name, before selecting Join.
If you don’t want to share your video in the meeting, make sure the Turn Off My Video button is switched on.
If you have signed in to your Zoom account, click the Join button at the top of the screen and enter the Meeting ID from your email invite add your name and select Join.
If you’re joining the workshop from your phone, make sure that your phone is switched to silent and that vibrate is turned off so that you don’t disturb the class with notifications.
You can also join the workshops from a laptop or tablet through your web browser by visiting https://zoom.us/join and entering the Meeting ID from your email invitation.
If your tutor hasn’t started the workshop when you join, you will see a message asking you to wait in the lobby. You can use this time to test your audio and video if you need to.

Do I need to have a webcam to join the workshop?
No, you are not required to have a webcam to join the workshops, although it means that you will not be able to transmit video of yourself. You will continue to be able to listen and speak during the workshop, and view the video of your tutor.
If you do have a webcam, but don’t want to transmit video of yourself, you can turn your video off when you’re joining the meeting by making sure the ‘Turn Off My Video’ button is switched to on.
Your tutor will remind you to check your camera before the meeting recording starts. If it is on and you want to stop it, just click the Stop Video button on the bottom toolbar.
Remember, these are interactive video workshops and they will be used for future educational purposes on our website and other platforms. If you DO NOT want your image to be seen please ensure you have your device’s camera switched off when you join the workshop.
How can I let my tutor know that I have a question?
At the start of the workshop, your tutor will let you know the best way to ask a question. If you are using your webcam, they might ask you to put your hand up to the camera, or you could be asked to type your question into the chat and your tutor will discuss it at the end of the session.
You can also use the reactions button on the bottom of the screen, to let your tutor know that you have understood an instruction.

What do I do if I have technical problems during the workshop?
If you are having trouble getting into the workshop, send an email to [email protected] – the team here will try to help you join.
There will always be a member of The Creative Dimensions Trust team in each workshop. This person will be there to provide technical support throughout the workshop, so if you have a problem just send a message in the chat and they will direct message you to help out.
Will the workshops be available online?
Yes – once your workshop is complete, a recording of it will be uploaded to our website and to our YouTube channel.
