Course Outline
The Art of Arabesque
Learn to draw a series of decorative patterns inspired by the natural world and develop hand eye coordination. This class will combine both freehand and geometric elements. We will explore glide patterns and mitres. There will be an overview of the terminology associated within decorative forms and explore the various motifs and compositional devices used to build classical biomorphic boarders at different scales.
This workshop will be run by the highly experienced Creative Dimension Trust tutor Adam Williamson.
Timings
Students must report for group teaching at 10am. Following the first session, students will go offline to create their own work. The afternoon session will include private one-to-one sessions, a show and tell, and a briefing for the following day.
Transferable Skills and Future Careers
All of our workshops give you a valuable chance to develop a range of transferable skills. This is a great workshop for anyone who is interested in learning some of the skills required for careers in: Conservation, Signwriting, Calligraphy, Fine Art, Illustration and Animation (to name a few).
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible to apply you will need to be 14 – 19 years old during the dates of the workshop.
You should be creative and have an interest in the careers listed above, or similar areas. You should also have good hand-eye co-ordination.
In your application you should demonstrate a passion for working with your hands.
You must be able to attend every day of the workshop.

Course Funding
Our workshops are fully-funded by generous sponsors. Places are limited, therefore, we recommend you submit your application as early as possible.
If the workshop becomes oversubscribed, we will close the application process early.
