Dates: This workshop will run for five days from 26th October 2020 until 30th October 2020.
This is led by puppeteer and Creative Dimension Trust tutor Siân Kidd, and is aimed at students who wish to learn the process of designing, making and operating a marionette or string puppet.
Using found objects and mixed materials, students will learn how to design and make their own puppet, while developing a knowledge of different tools and techniques.
You will be taught how to operate your finished marionette and shown some puppetry performance techniques. Throughout the course you will be given support and advice to develop your puppet for performance and the course will culminate with a sharing of your work.
This course is aimed at people with an interest in puppetry. Students are encouraged to bring their own objects to incorporate into their puppets.
Transferable Skills and Future Careers
All of our workshops give you a valuable chance to develop a range of transferable skills. This is a great workshop for anyone who is interested in learning some of the skills required for careers in: Marionette Puppet Making, Model Making, Sculpture, Animation, Films and Product Design. (to name a few)
In order to be eligible to apply you will need to be 14 – 19 years old during the dates of the workshop.
You should be creative and have an interest in the careers listed above, or similar areas. You should also have good hand-eye co-ordination.
In your application you should demonstrate a passion for working with your hands.
You must be able to attend every day of the workshop.
