Dates: This workshop will run for five days from Monday 27th July 2020 until Friday 31st July 2020. There are only 4 spaces available on this workshop. If the workshop becomes oversubscribed, we will close the application process early. The application deadline will be the end of June, as interviews will need to be arranged for those interested in attending this workshop.
A conservator plays a vital role by managing the repair and preservation of things of significant cultural or environmental interest. This can range from works of art to buildings!
This is a truly unique and varied experience for students who are passionate about working with wood and furniture. You will get to work “apprentice style” in The Royal Household.
You will be hosted by the talented and experienced crafts team in their workshop at Windsor Castle. During the week, you will help the team conserve an item that is used at one of the Royal Residences.
Transferable Skills and Future Careers
All of our workshops give you a valuable chance to develop a range of transferable skills. This is a great workshop for anyone who is interested in learning some of the skills required for careers in: Conservation, Furniture Making, and Woodwork. (to name a few)
In order to be eligible to apply you will need to be 16 – 19 years old during the dates of the workshop.
You should be creative and have an interest in the careers listed above. In order to make the most of the support and guidance you will receive, you must be good at listening, and show a dedication and willingness to learn, and to explore your skills.
In your application you should demonstrate a passion for working with your hands. Shortlisted applicants will need to attend an interview in July.
You must be able to attend every day of the workshop.
