Workshop Information

Course Outline

This course will explore the exciting world of Celtic art and its playful mix of freehand motifs and compass drawn geometry.
The Celts, like so many human cultures, were fascinated by the interplay of nature and number, they developed several unique design styles: knotwork, zoomorphic animal ornament, maze like ‘key patterns’ and complex spiral compositions.  Over the five sessions we will take an artistic journey through some of these forms and learn something of the genius of the artists and scribes who made them.
This workshop will be run by artist, writer and teacher, Adam Tetlow. Adam works in the area of pattern and consciousness and is author of Celtic Pattern and contributor to Quadrivum, Designa and Trivium all published by Wooden Books.  Adam lives in rural Essex with his partner and three children.

Students must report for group teaching at 10am and classes will finish at approximately 4:30pm.
