Autumn 2025: AHMM Architectural Drawing

Dates: This workshop will run for a half day on Tuesday 28th October 2025. Age Range: 16 – 19 years old. If the workshop becomes oversubscribed, we will close the application process early.

Workshop Information

Course Outline

An introduction to architectural drawing techniques and technical skills used by AHMM architects including use of perspective, plans and elevations. You will be introduced to how architects sketch their ideas at the earliest stages, and how they use digital design and 3D model-making and by the end of the session you will understand how architects use drawing to create their designs and to communicate ideas. You will have a chance to experiment with different kinds of architectural drawing including sketching the London cityscape from our rooftop as well as ending with a visit to our model-shop. 

 

Timings

This workshop will start at 9:30am and finish at approximately 1pm.

09:30   Arrive

09:45   Intro to how architects and AHMM use architectural drawing inc Plan/ elevation/ section

10:05   1 point perspective exercise

10:35   Break (10 mins)

10:45   2 point perspective exercise(s)

11:15   Experiment with tracing paper/ drawing into perspective ––final drawing ink

11:45   Move to the roof

11:50   Drawing on the roof

12:30   Review and celebrate work (15 mins)

12:45   Visit the modelshop (15 mins)

13:00   Ends

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible to apply you will need to be 16 – 19 years old during the dates of the workshop.

You should be creative and have an interest in the careers listed above, or similar areas. You should also have good hand-eye coordination.

In your application you should demonstrate a passion for working with your hands.

You must be able to attend every day of the workshop.

Course Funding

Our workshops are fully-funded by generous sponsors.  Places are limited, therefore, we recommend you submit your application as early as possible.
