Course outline
This 5-day placement offers students a hands-on introduction to architectural modelmaking within a professional workshop environment. Participants will gain insight into the creative and technical processes behind physical models used in architecture and design, including the design and development of digital 3D models to produce 3D printed components.
- Introduction to modelmaking tools, materials, and safety procedures
- Observation and support in the construction of scaled architectural models
- Hands-on practice with basic cutting, assembling, and finishing techniques
- Introduction to digital fabrication, including file preparation for 3D printing
- Assisted operation of 3D printers to produce model components
- Understanding how traditional and digital methods integrate in professional workflows
Timings
This workshop will start daily at 10am and finish at approximately 5pm.
Transferable Skills and Future Careers
All of our workshops give you a valuable chance to develop a range of transferable skills. This is a great workshop for anyone who is interested in learning some of the skills required for careers in: Jewellery Making, Product Design, Fashion Design, Conservation, Costume Making and Fabrication. (to name a few)
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible to apply you will need to be 16 – 19 years old during the dates of the workshop.
You should be creative and have an interest in the careers listed above, or similar areas. You should also have good hand-eye co-ordination.
In your application you should demonstrate a passion for working with your hands.
You must be able to attend every day of the workshop.
