Autumn 2026: Make Your Own Carry Case
Workshop Information
Course Details
In the workshop you will design and construct your own wooden carry case – you will be able to use this as a tool box, or a crafting case, or even as a holdall for your toiletries.
The workshops will enable you to learn how to:
- Measure, mark and cut out accurately;
- Gain control of hand tools;
- Understand workshop drawings;
- Learn accurate jointing and wood preparation;
- Cut and craft dovetail joints;
- Assembly and glueing up techniques;
- Sanding and finishing.
About the Venue
The Building Crafts College is a small specialist college that is dedicated to training people in craft and construction skills. We place emphasis on the development of high-quality hand skills that support the maintenance of heritage crafts. The Building Crafts College is conveniently located 5mins walk from Stratford train and bus station.
Timings
This workshop will start daily at 10am and finish at approximately 3:30pm with a half hour break for lunch. Please bring your own packed lunch with you.

Some of the career choices our alumni have pursued include; Architecture, Engineering, Fine Art, Jewellery Making, Art Conservation, Glass Working, Theatre Design, Fashion Design, Costume Design – the list is growing!
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible to apply you will need to be 14 – 19 years old during the dates of the workshop.
You should be creative and have an interest in the careers listed above, or similar areas. You should also have good hand-eye co-ordination.
In your application you should demonstrate a passion for working with your hands.
You must be able to attend every day of the workshop.

Course Funding
Our workshops are fully-funded by generous sponsors. Places are limited, therefore, we recommend you submit your application as early as possible.
There are only 10 spaces available on this workshop. If the workshop becomes oversubscribed, we will close the application process early.
