Dates: This workshop ran for five days from Monday 24th July 2023 until Friday 28th July 2023.
During this 5 day workshop, you will learn some of the skills and processes of making and repairing a hat. You will spend some time with our Lock & Co.’s Master Hatter, learning how to steam, brush and polish hats, and some time in their famous kiln with their Hatsmith learning how to repair hats.
In Lock & Co.’s atelier, their Milliners will show you how you can block a hat and you will finish the week designing and creating hats!

This workshop will start daily at 10am and finish at approximately 4:30pm.

TCDT workshops give a chance to develop a range of transferable skills and valuable insight to possible career paths. Some of the career choices our alumni have pursued include; Architecture, Engineering, Fine Art, Jewellery Making, Art Conservation, Glass Working, Theatre Design, Fashion Design, Costume Design – the list is growing!
In order to be eligible to apply you will need to be 16 – 19 years old during the dates of the workshop.
You should be creative and have good hand-eye co-ordination. In your application you should demonstrate a passion for working with your hands.
You must be able to attend every day of the workshop.
