Sandra Smith

Sandra Smith is Head of Collection Care at the British Museum.  Her ‘preventive’ conservation team is responsible for monitoring the environmental conditions within the Museum and protecting the most sensitive objects.  Sandra re-joined the British Museum in February 2019 after an absence of 17 years during which she was Head of Conservation and Technical Services at the V&A.  She was a senior judge of the Nigel Williams Prize, the treasurer of the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works and Institute of Conservation, a trustee of the Gabo Trust, and vice president of IIC.
