Afternoon Session – Casting
Each participant will make a pair of professional coasters, dishes, or candle holders for their home or as a delightful bespoke gift. Experience various casting techniques using pigments, marbling, inclusions, and finishes. Participants will learn about the opportunities afforded by Jesmonite AC100, a water-based eco-resin that’s easy to use and adaptable for all moulding applications. This material is suitable for decorative cast objects, mould replication, and wall panels. It’s the ultimate chameleon material that can replicate virtually any surface, colour, or texture. It is safe to use and contains no harmful chemicals. In the first half, everyone will learn the basics of mould making, how to pigment Jesmonite using their own choice mix of colours, and explore marbling, inclusions, finishes, and free-pouring techniques. In the second period, participants will cast either coaster, dishes, or candle holders by pouring their material into silicone moulds. Finally, once hardened, they will sand and seal their unique and personalised pieces to take home!
