Venue: Windsor Castle, Berkshire
Dates: This workshop ran from Monday the 29th July 2019 until Friday the 2nd August 2019.
Workshop Information
This is the second year that The Creative Dimension Trust has had the fantastic opportunity to run a workshop within the grounds of the historic Windsor Castle. This particular workshop will take place at the newly built Conservation Workshop.
What to Expect
You will learn the traditional craft of upholstery with the Royal Household upholsterer/conservator. Upholstery is the craft of providing seat furniture with padding, springs, webbing and fabric or leather covers. It is a traditional craft but is just as relevant today as it has ever been; for example, with the surge in people ‘upcyling’ furniture, it is a special skill to learn which will allow you to put your own creative stamp on items.
Transferable Skills and Future Careers
All of our workshops provide you with the valuable chance to learn transferable skills. This is a great workshop for anyone who is also interested in learning some of the skills required for careers in fashion, textile design, and theatre set design (to name a few).
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible to apply you will need to be 16 – 18 years old during the dates of the workshop.
You should be creative and have an interest in the careers listed above, or similar areas. You should also have good hand-eye co-ordination.
In your application you should demonstrate a passion for working with your hands.
You must be able to attend every day of the workshop.
Please be sure that you have read our Eligibility Criteria and Applications section at the bottom of the Workshop page before applying.
Course Funding
Our workshops are fully-funded by generous sponsors. Places are limited, therefore, we recommend you submit your application as early as possible.
If the workshop becomes oversubscribed, we will close the application process early.
