Autumn 2022: Calligraphy for Beginners

Venue: Bow Road Studios, London E3

Dates: This workshop ran on Saturdays for three weeks from Saturday 19th November 2022 until Saturday 3rd December 2022.

Workshop Information

Course Outline

Learn the fundamental techniques needed to write cursive Italic script.

Calligraphy is a craft requiring singularly few tools – the writing instrument, the ink and the writing surface are the only essentials. The art of calligraphy depends on the scribe having an understanding of the proper use of all three, on his knowledge of letterforms and on his skill and freedom in their use.

– Heather Child, ‘Pens in Perspective’, The Calligrapher’s Handbook

This workshop will be run by the highly experienced Creative Dimension Trust tutor Adam Williamson.
