Workshop Information

Course Outline

Interested in Puppetry? Want to learn how to design, make and operate marionettes? Then this course is for you!

Learn in the comfort of your own home for the duration of this three-day, online course run by puppeteer and experienced Creative Dimension Trust tutor, Sian Kidd. Taking inspiration from vintage Sci-fi and deep space science we will work together to create a unique puppet character from your imagination.

You will receive a puppet making kit in the post containing sculpting materials, tools, acrylic paint, brushes, string, a selection of materials to excite and inspire you, a puppet ‘skeleton’ and pre-fabricated puppet control for you to work with.

Each day we will focus on a different element of puppet making:

Day 1 – Puppet design and maquette making

Day 2 – Sculpting and painting (Working with Sculpey, a polymer clay)

Day 3 – Stringing and operating

This course is suitable for beginners but the kit is adaptable to suit your confidence level.

This workshop will start daily at 10am and finish by approximately 4:30pm.
