Summer 2025: Plaster Carving

This Workshop ran 25 August 2025 – 29 August 2025

In this unique opportunity, students were able to experience plaster carving with a practicing sculptor in his studio. The patterns used for the intro exercises focused on the geometric and biomorphic patterns and techniques of the Islamic lands, but final projects drew on a multitude of traditional designs.

Summer 2025: Engineering Drawing

This Workshop ran on 19 August 2025

During this one-day Engineering Drawing workshop, students were introduced to engineering drawing by hand and also had the opportunity to learn to draw with Computer-aided design (CAD).

Summer 2025: Architectural Drawing – Facades and Ornamentation

This Workshop ran 18 August 2025 – 22 August 2025

In this workshop students learned to draw architectural elements including decorative corbels, horseshoes arches and ionic capitals. They used traditional tools including compass and straight edge, technical drawings were taught stage by stage.

Summer 2025: Introduction To Architectural Sketch Modelling

This Workshop ran on 14 August 2025

In this one-day workshop with London based practice Make Architects, students learned basic architectural drawing principles and hands-on model making techniques. Through guided experimentation and design iteration they transformed 2D design concepts into 3D sketch models – bringing their visions of a kiosk or pavilion to life!

Summer 2025: Marbling

This Workshop ran 13 August 2025 – 15 August 2025

During this workshop, students learned a variety of different marbling techniques – including Suminagashi ink marbling, Turkish Ebru and European marbling.

Summer 2025: Hat Making

This Workshop ran 11 August 2025 – 15 August 2025

During this workshop, students learned some of the skills and processes of making and repairing a hat. They spent time with a Master Hatter from Lock & Co., the oldest hat shop in the world and the oldest shop in London, learning how to steam, brush, polish and repair hats.

Summer 2025: Enamelling

This Workshop ran on 11 August 2025

During this workshop, students were taught techniques including shaping, bending, hammering, sawing, soldering, texturing and enamelling, using materials such as silver, copper and brass.

Summer 2025: Sculpture, Creature/Character Creation for Film

This Workshop ran 9 August 2025 – 16 August 2025

This hands-on workshop explored the art of sculpting original creatures and characters for film. Students learned techniques to design and model fantastical or realistic beings, guided by principles of anatomy, storytelling, and cinematic design.
