Autumn 2022: Hand & Lock – Goldwork Embroidery

Hand & Lock, London, W1W 8TE, This workshop ran for two days from Tuesday 25^th October 2022 until Wednesday 26^th  October 2022.
Goldwork is the art of embroidery using metal threads. Historically associated with ceremonial and military uniform the technique is now also popular in customisation, couture and interior design. Over the course of one intense weekend, students learned fundamentals such as setting up a full-size frame, transferring their designs, soft string padding, felt padding before learning the more complex elements such as pearl purl and cutwork.

Autumn 2022: Stone Carving

Building Crafts College, London, This workshop ran on Saturdays for three weeks from Saturday 1^st October 2022 until Saturday 15^th  October 2022.
Led by Creative Dimension Trust tutor Nancy Peskett, students learned how to use traditional stone-carving tools to carve their own small piece in soft stone. Exploring some of the architectural principles of building with stone, students had the opportunity to learn not only a new skill but about its historic and architectural context too.

Autumn 2022: Wood Turning

Building Crafts College, London, This workshop ran on Saturdays for three weeks from Saturday 1^st October 2022 until Saturday 15^th  October 2022.
Working with Creative Dimension Trust tutor Patrick Lear, students developed skills in the ancient craft of woodturning.

Autumn 2022: Painting with Specialist Brushes

Online, This workshop ran on Saturdays for five weeks from Saturday 10^th September 2022 until Saturday 8^th  October 2022.
In this online workshop, students learned different techniques that can be used for lots of different craft applications, as well as fine art painting and illustration. Each week, students experimented with a different brush and painted using glaze medium to create layered effects.

Summer 2022: Jewellery Making

The Goldsmiths’ Centre, London, This workshop ran from Monday 15^th August 2022 until Friday 19^th  August 2022.
During this workshop, students learned traditional techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering and annealing to complete a personal piece of jewellery to take home.

Summer 2022: Sign Writing on Skateboards

Bow Road Studios, London E3, This workshop ran for four days from Tuesday 16^th August 2022 until Friday 19^th August 2022.
In this workshop, students learned how to paint a box or skateboard using traditional, timeless brushwork and pinstriping techniques. Practicing with a mahl stick (a stick with a soft leather or padded head used by painters) and enamel paints, students acquired some new design, shading and lining talents while mastering some serious brushwork skills.

Summer 2022: Painting Techniques

Zone Creations Ltd, London (SW19), This workshop ran from Monday 8^th August 2022 until Friday 12^th  August 2022.
In this workshop, students learned how to create realistic effects in acrylic paint using specialist brushes and materials. Students made a series of samples to keep and added the finishing touches to a Window Display Backdrop, which will be displayed in a central London location in the Autumn of 2022.
